Instead of rolling out a program to help a very poor working class with no existing safety net, he has implemented an austerity program and forced workers to work irrespective of the Pandemic. He is proceeding on the privatization of the National Oil industry program previously planned by his conservative predecessors whose respective political power was not sufficient to fully implement. This is in spite of running on the pledge that the Oil industry would remain in state hands. He has also abandoned any program and investment in renewable energy.

This propaganda that Mexican plutocrats wish to overthrow him is an outright lie designed to win him support and cover from both gullible people both in and outside Mexico to pursue his neoliberal austerity program. Mexico is even more a banana republic then the US. Elections there, make American rigging and fixing of elections look amateur. Outright bribery of voters is common. When bribery fails, political assassination is commonly used to get the right people in office and of course the wrong people into the ground. It is a colony of the US. I am very disappointed with Max because generally on foreign issues he has been a useful and caring idiot, (especially with regards to Palestinians), which most American liberals show no interest in, much less concern. The problem with these liberals is that it is small and incestuous self serving community who are blind to each other's faults and overly respectful to each other's rice bowl.
