McMeekin is not very keen in avoiding logical contradictions. Lenin was bought and consequently betrayed his country, Lenin used German money to shower the masses with propaganda. He had his absolutely loyal minions to distribute 10 rubles apiece from this grandiose German bribe to workers to buy the crowds supporting the dictatorial lap dog of German Capitalism, megalomaniac Lenin. The party had previously already been paid for, so their respective agency can be dismissed as well. Of course what agency could have Lenin have possessed, having been already bought.

If all it took to make this revolution was cold cash, why didn't the Russian Bourgeoisie buy Lenin in the first place? I am certain that if Americans, French, English, Russians Capitalists etc..... pooled their massive speculative war profits they could have easily outbid the beleaguered Germans and purchase a 1000 Lenins. Actually they did buy dozens of other much more malleable political parties across the tsar family hundreds of years old Imperial dictatorship. The largest and most reactionary empire on the planet.

Lenin could not have betrayed his country in any case, his professed loyalty was to the Working class first and then to the peasant class. Are not Christians, etc.. given the right to profess a higher loyalty to what are superstitions over nationalist ideals, without being called a traitor? Certainly Communists are afforded the same rights to much more just and material ideals. Did not Wilson betray his Working class voters by dragging them into a war, which they exchange their lives and well being for strictly the benefit of JP Morgan and his mafia's outrageous war profits.

There was plenty of treason to be found in all Capitalist countries, which like the comfortable pseudo socialist parties by the score lap dogs that they are, supported what was until WW2 came along the most bloody and criminal war for profit in history. Profits which went way beyond mere monetary gain into the dismantling of entire countries, thus exploding the myths of the inviability of nationalist ideals. A war which was supported by the vast majority of religious insitutions who were paid royally for their loyalty.

McMeekin pretends to be clever when he claims that there were few shortages, especially regarding food in Russia and even the Army. However he fails to mention that the Working class wages fell way behind the the exorbitant inflationary prices of cruel and selfish war mongering speculators who supplied and control the markets.

Regarding the Hoover led famine relief, why didn't the Americans feed an embargoed by allied fleets for months German population who starved and died for months after the armistice was accepted by them. A mass starvation used to force the infamous Versailles peace treaty upon the German people, which directly led to the worse depression in history as well as the most murderous and destructive consequent World War 2. Did not the Allies use food in this case too starve a working class desperate for a Revolution? Why didn't Hoover himself as President, years later feed his own people suffering from a depression caused by Capitalists like himself?

Unlike during Lenin's era where there was no food to be delivered to starving workers. There were no shortages of food at any time during US history. Yet the US has a long history which continues to this very day of hunger and every other form of material insecurity especially regarding health services. This is not a coincident but a vital component of the system of artificial shortages that weakens and demoralizes workers to force them to work at shamefully low wages in the richest economy that ever existed on the planet. Foreign workers have additional negative incentives of coup d'etats, colonial wars and every form of mass murder and torture imposed on them solely the serve the dictates of maximizing profits.

One of FDR's more perverted reforms" was to destroy food and subsidize the REPRESSION of food and every other agricultural production in order to prop up prices while millions in the US and billions around the World went hungry or starved to death. The war criminal Churchill as prime minister during WW2, diverted so much grain from the English colony of Bengal to have caused over 1 million deaths. The food was used to bribe workers and peasants in newly freed from fascist controlled areas of Southern Europe into loyalty to Capitalism and becoming foot soldiers in the war against national liberation.

McMeekin delights in innuendos that Lenin and other party leaders were importing expensive delicacies while workers and peasants starved. He presents no more proof of this slander than that of the corruption of Lenin, the party and even those workers, soldiers and peasants which supported the Communist revolution. There were certainly easier ways to consume these luxury goods then taking a bullet in the neck by Social Revolutionaries, which considerably shorten Lenin's life. What rewards Kerensky and his lot or even the extreme reactionary generals received for their respective loyalty to their bourgeoisie is well established. Much of this lot of Condottieri both intellectual and trigger men variations were very well compensated by foreign capitalists. Kerensky was very well taken care by the Hoover institute. Russian nobles like the Mohrenschildts married into the height of the Wall Street plutocrats and latter repaid their new homeland with the participation in the assassination of President Kennedy.

There is an unfortunate lumping togethers of individuals, irrespective class into a monolithic movement, by both the supporters of the revolution and even more so by its enemies. A classless society educated under generations of peaceful development can make any number of exceptional leaders that it needs. However the capitalist school of hard knocks, only produces a small number of exceptional leaders. The Working class and this uniquely trained leadership which powered the victory of the Revolution paid for this victory with their lives. Particularly the skilled sectors of the Working class which comprised of a small minority within an immature Working class which itself was a very small minority of a predominately peasant country.

It should surprise no one that the quality of leadership both of individuals and the Working class fell dramatically. This was easily seen after the premature death of Lenin, due to an assassin bullet. This malicious attrition was not confined to Lenin. Outstanding leaders like Sedov, Inessa Armand, etc... died from the stresses of the deprivations suffered by all revolutionaries of that period. Mistakes were made by the mediocre leadership followed, until these mediocrities fell themselves under the boot of the grave digger of the revolution, Stalin. I don't include Trotsky in this class, but his was one of the few exceptions to the rule.

Modern reactionary ideologists of today like the Reverend Chris Hedges who likes to troll Marxism, throws out the 1917 revolution like an unwashed baby with the bathwater. Petty bourgeois Intellectuals of Lenin's era nor more then today countenance or respect the sheep that they live off of with agency. According to them workers lacking their respective lap dog education can no more determine their class interests than a pick or shovel.

Thus according to these mercenary intellectuals, Lenin, Trotsky, etc.. bribed and fooled respective working classes on the planet to further their own evil and selfish interests. It is much easier to believe and understand motivations that are so close to their respective hearts.

If anybody wishes to find the guilty parties of this most bloody and lecherous century in Human history, look to those who were the most powerful having the means to create an utopia on the planet and instead has thrown trillions of capital into securing their respective Capitalist corruptions and orgies. Shameless corruption such as the assassinated billionaire pimp of children Epstein is par for the course in the Capitalist World. Assassinated not for justice sake but to hide his feeding of disgusting compromising evidence of the ruling elite to respective secret police. Something learnt from the Catholic Church methodology of enforcing discipline on its priests.

The Catholic Church has turned its institutions into factories of pedohilia. Life expectancy and wages are declining while speculative Wall street speculators turn respective countries into massive casinos paid for with public taxes by way of Central banks, Quantitative easing, etc,....
