Lopez is a tragic parody of the elections of President Lula in Brazil, Chavez and that of Allende's. Revealing both the limitation of reformism and the inevitability of its failure. The consequential demoralization buys decades worth of moral collapse by the Working class, that the capitalist class full exploits. If Lopez was not safe for administering their state for them. His respective Mexican overlords would put a bullet in his brains. That is if the Americans or some other Imperialist powers does not get to him first.
Allende was not the least bit threaten to Capitalist hegemony, but he still received a bullet in the head, due to his incompetence as an administrator, being neither a good capitalist or Socialist. Comrades who revered him should remember how he not only failed to armed the working class, in the face of many obvious attempts to physically and illegally overthrow him . He also disarmed the masses where they did have arms.
Lula included Christian reactionaries in his coalition as well, Eduardo Cunha leader of the PMDB. Someone who put him in jail and impeached the chosen successor.
Not that I don't wish this fate on all misleaders of the Working class. You would think that Obrador read the International news section every once in a while.
As far as the Mexican working class is concerned, desperation is a evil master. Obrador and Obama were elected to the dirty work of dismantling and taking the blame for what's left of the reformist program. After his misleadership, people will go back to not voting.
This is not necessarily a bad thing. If Trump's branch of the Capitalist system wins its immigration battle, the American safety valve will be shut off. The masses will have no choice but to make the sacrifices necessary to make a Revolution. Becoming servants and soldiers for the US empire is not the best career path for any foreign people.
I of course defend this retreat, (immigration to the US), from the horribly brutal class struggle in their respective countries. But we must not paint a lipstick on a pig of a situation.
These defeats that we have suffered in Mexico, Haiti, Libya, Syria, etc... which have forced people to leave their homes are an unmitigated disaster.
PS: Someone should be talking about removing the horrible clause of giving dreamers a citizenship path if they serve in the Imperial US Army. Already there have been reports of the US Army going into Mexican High schools recruiting.
